
Level 1 Introduction to Forest School and Outdoor Learning
This Level 1 course is perfect if you want an introduction to both Forest School and Outdoor Learning to help decide which of these teaching methods works best for your groups. We will teach you about how to use a natural space for learning and simple identification of flora and fauna. You will come away with a range of activities to try with your groups and learn practical skills such as shelter building, using tools and cooking on the campfire.
Our Level 1 Introduction to Forest School and Outdoor Learning Award is taught through three units of study:
Learning, Play and Development in the Outdoors: Education, holistic development and learning through play.
Health and Safety for Working Outdoors: Managing risk and working safely outdoors.
Outdoor Practical Skills: knots, fires and basic tools.
What we give you
2 days of tutor led training
A half day group tutorial and practical skills workshop.
Ongoing tutor support during your portfolio completion.

All our courses are held in our beautiful woodland site and next door classroom in Swaffham Bulbeck just outside Cambridge. The village is linked to Cambridge via cycle path (route 51) there is a bus service, village shop and pub. There is free parking available at the venue which also has a kitchenette with fridge.
You are required to
Attend all training days
Collect evidence during training for your workbook
Complete a workbook of evidence to include work completed during training and self study.
Joining requirements.
No formal qualifications are required but you must be 16 or over.
