Online Level 3 Forest School Training – a blend of online and face to face learning.

An accredited Level 3 Certificate in Leading Forest School that gives you the same Level 3 Forest School Leader qualification as our full face to face training but is delivered with a blend of self-directed online learning followed by tutor-led practical skills training. Ideal for anyone who needs to fit their Forest School training around other commitments and those who want to get started ASAP. It is convenient, flexible, user friendly learning with a high level of tutor support.

The blended learning course covers exactly the same content as our full face to face courses and the online materials have undergone full Quality Assurance scrutiny.

This Level 3 Certificate in Leading Forest School is taught through 5 units of study covering the full range of essential Forest School skills. It is suitable for those working in education, social care, forestry and countryside employment, childminders and anyone who regularly works with groups outside.

About the course

Online training starts on the first of every month.

The online course materials are available to you for up to 60 days.

Complete the online part of your course then attend your face to face training.

Attend 4 face to face practical skills training days held in the woods.

 When you have completed both your online and face to face training, you have 9 months to complete your workbook of evidence.

How to book

Visit our course dates page, choose the course you’d like to attend and book your face to face training dates with us-  training@cambridgeforestschools.co.uk

Register and pay for the online section of your course via the Cambium Sustainable website. This costs £240 which includes your registration fee and deposit for the face to face training.

 Cambridge Forest Schools will invoice you for the remaining balance of £740.

Please note: we offer a payment plan for paying this fee in stages.

Online Learning section

Once you have paid your registration fee to Cambium Sustainable, you will be given access to the online materials.

You will also have free access to bank of downloadable online resources including the digital workbook.

Online materials are available for 60 days within which time you will work through each unit in turn.

 Conclude each completed unit by attending a digital group tutorial.

Work through each unit in turn. Finish one and ‘unlock’ the next.

Finally, when you have completed all online training you attend the face to face practical skills days.

You should expect to spend an average of 30 hrs to complete the online learning (includes reflective practise and 5 online tutorials)

During this time, you can start to compile your workbook of evidence.

Face to Face section

Firstly, you attend the 4 day face to face training course you have previously booked onto.

We hold our practical skills days in our beautiful woodland setting in the village of Swaffham Bulbeck.

You will learn to teach practical skills (TOPS unit) and have your two day practical skills assessment.

We will also revisit some of the elements covered online and work with your peers to lead a ‘mini Forest School session’ 

This section is run alongside our full face to face course enabling you to share ideas and connect with fellow Level 3 trainees.

Completion

After your online learning and face to face training, you have completed the full training course.

You have 9 months from the start of your online section to submit your completed workbook.

During this time, you will lead a 6 week programme of Forest School sessions at your chosen setting.

In addition, your tutor will carry out a workplace observation of one of your sessions (usually session 4) followed by a 1:1 tutorial.

Finally, you submit your completed workbook for marking.
