In partnership with Cambium Sustainable, Cambridge Forest Schools offer you this alternative Online Forest School training course. An accredited Level 3 Certificate in Leading Forest School that gives you the same Level 3 Forest School Leader qualification as our full face to face training but is delivered with a blend of self-directed online learning and tutor-led practical training. Ideal for anyone who needs to fit their Forest School training around other commitments and in these challenging times, wants to get started ASAP. It is convenient, flexible, user friendly learning with an equally high level of tutor support as the full face to face course.
The blended learning course covers exactly the same content as our full face to face courses. It is fully endorsed by the awarding body for the Level 3 Forest School Leader qualification and the online materials have undergone full Internal Quality Assurance scrutiny.
Level 3 Certificate in Leading Forest School is taught through 5 units of study covering the full range of essential Forest School skills. It is suitable for those working in education, social care, forestry and countryside employment, childminders and anyone who regularly works with groups outside.
How do I enroll?
You start your training by booking your face to face training days with Cambridge Forest Schools. course dates here . These days are in the woods learning practical skills. For example cooking on the fire and using tools. Also, you will revisit some elements of online learning as well as a some new learning.

Begin Section 1: Online learning.
Section 1: Online Learning with Cambium Sustainable.
Firstly, Cambium register you with the awarding body and you gain access to the online study material.
Then you download the digital portfolio after which you have a total of 9 months from the start of your online course to complete.
You work through each online module through Cambium Sustainable with additional support from your Cambium online tutor.
During this time, you can start to compile your workbook of evidence at this point if you choose.
Conclude each completed module by attending your chosen digital group tutorial (these occur weekly)
Lastly, once you have completed all online training you will transition to Section. This is a digital handover meeting to your Cambridge Forest Schools trainer.
Section 2: Face to face training with Cambridge Forest Schools.
Firstly, you attend the 4 day face to face training course you have already booked with Cambridge Forest Schools.
This largely cover the TOPS practical skills unit and includes 2 practical assessment days.
After this, you will carry out a 6 week Forest School programme of sessions at your chosen setting.
In addition, you will have a tutor workplace observation of one session (usually session 4) including a 1:1 tutorial.
Finally, you submit your completed portfolio of evidence to Cambridge Forest Schools for marking.
What else do I need to know about Online Learning Level 3 Forest School training?
Online training starts every two weeks, on a Monday. View course dates here.
The online course material is available for up to 60 days.
You will also have free access to bank of downloadable online resources including digital portfolio.
You should allow an average of 30 hours online to complete their work (includes reflective practice and 5 online tutorials).
You must complete the online part of your course before attending your face to face training.
Following face to face training you are required to lead a 6 week programme of Forest School sessions and have a workplace assessment.
You have 9 months to complete your portfolio of evidence starting when you begin the online section of your training.
