About this course

This 4 day Level 3 Outdoor Learning training course is for anyone wants to implement curriculum led outdoor learning at their setting. Outdoor Learning is proven to dramatically improve attainment for children (see our research page). Also, job satisfaction for teachers.  This 4 day course merges the Level 2 Outdoor Learning Practitioner  and Level 3 Co-ordinating the Outdoor Curriculum. This equips you to establish learning outside the classroom as a whole school approach. Therefore, this training is perfect for teachers, head teachers and any other interested education practitioners. It is the ideal way to train a team of staff who can embed outdoor learning into your curriculum. What’s more, this combined course is better value than doing the level 2 and 3 training on separate occasions.

The Level 3 Outdoor Learning training  follows the units for both Level 2 and Level 3 courses.

Level 2 Outdoor Learning Practitioner

Deliver Curriculum-based Outdoor Learning

Mapping outdoor learning activities and developing your Outdoor area. Also, planning and leading sessions. In addition, we focus on how to manage risk when working outside.

Sustainable Use and Management of Natural Resources

Studying the natural environment then planning how to use your natural environment for teaching. Using your site in a sustainable way and looking at the impact on the environment of using natural resources . We teach you about different flora and fauna as well as about how to use flora and fauna in your work.

Level 3 Co-ordinating an Outdoor Curriculum

Outdoor Curriculum Co-ordinator

We will focus on planning an annual programme of Outdoor Learning so as to teach it across the school. For this reason, you will develop policies, procedures and risk assessments that support your work. We look at how learning in the natural environment can contribute to attainment, health and well-being and therefore maximise the benefits you will bring to your school.

Supporting Learning, Play and Development in a Natural Environment

In addition to the Level 2 work, this unit will further your understanding of learning, play and development in the natural environment and similarly look at education theories and holistic learning. Also, developing self confidence and self esteem. This includes identifying strategies to encourage positive behavior when learning outdoors

Sustainable Use and Management of Natural Resources

Again, this unit builds on the Level 2 course. You will deepen your understanding of eco-systems specifically studying the natural environment and how it will support Outdoor Learning.  We look at the history of woodlands and sustainability in order to manage your site effectively.
